Young Justice Season 4 Is Officially Titled Phantoms
The title for season 4 of Young Justice is officially Young Justice: Phantoms. DC's animated show originally began in 2010 but ended after just two seasons and some big cliffhangers. After almost a decade, Young Justice returned for a season 3 on DC's virtual service DC Universe. Young Justice: Outsiders, as it was called, was split into two parts totaling 26 episodes released across 2019.
Fans of the animated series watched as Young Justice once again ended its story with set up for more adventures. This time, though, the future of the show was already confirmed. DC Universe picked up Young Justice for season 4 during San Diego Comic-Con 2019. As exciting as that news was, details on what will happen next have been kept under wraps. It is known that Beast Boy's new Outsiders team will be the focus of season 4 after their formation during season 3.
The cast and creators of Young Justice joined forces for a virtual panel at DC FanDome and revealed some season 4 information. It was officially announced that the title for season 4 is Young Justice: Phantoms, with the logo for next season even being revealed. Executive Producers Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti didn't reveal the meaning behind the season 4 title, but it might be a tease of another superteam joining the show.
Since the first two seasons of Young Justice didn't have subtitles, it was revealed during season 3 that the Outsiders subtitle was a direct reference to the team Beast Boy assembles. It is possible that another new team, either good or evil, will emerge and be known as the Phantoms. This is purely speculation at this point, and there are some other options that can be considered. DC is famous for the Phantom Zone, a prison dimension that houses some of the most dangerous DC villains, so perhaps it will play a part in season 4. There is even a hero known as Phantom Girl in the comics who is part of the Legion of Superheroes, who just so happened to be teased at the end of season 3.
Even though fans of Young Justice would like to know more about the meaning of Young Justice: Phantoms, the lack of details surrounding season 4 is what gives everyone a chance to have fun speculating about the possibilities until more information comes out. It is currently unconfirmed when Young Justice: Phantoms will be released or if it will move to HBO Max like season 3 of Doom Patrol, but since production is still underway, hopefully it won't be too long before season 4 arrives.
