Big Brother 22: Memphis Intimidates David, & Cody Compares Him to OJ Simpson
Warning! Spoilers for the Sunday, September 13 episode of Big Brother below!
In the Big Brother 22: All-Stars live feeds, Memphis Garrett attempted to intimidate David Alexander, and Cody Calafiore compared David's game move to the OJ Simpson trials. This has undoubtedly been a very rough season for David. He was given a second chance at playing this game after being evicted so early on Big Brother 21, but many former players and fans have been disappointed in his performance so far. With that said, it must be noted that certain veteran houseguests and fans are starting to like what they're seeing recently from David. Overall, the general consensus regarding his gameplay seems to be slowly shifting.
Last week, David won the Disruptor power through the BB Basement competition on BB22. This power allowed him to secretly save someone from being on the nomination block, including himself. This week's HOH, Daniele, nominated David and Kevin for eviction. Following the nomination ceremony, David told production in the Diary Room that he was going to use his power on himself. As just like that, Dani was informed that she'd have to nominate someone else. This time, she put Tyler on the block. The houseguests are obviously assuming that David won the power and used it on himself, but they're not entirely certain.
Fans watching the Big Brother: All-Stars live feeds saw a few conversations that took place after David was taken off the block and was replaced with Tyler. During an initial interaction, Memphis bragged that he'd intimidate David to admit that he used his power. Other players pushed back on it, but Memphis replied: "They said I could intimidate. Rich told me." Then, in the clip shared by @Adoomies2 (seen below), Cody told Nicole, Ian, and Tyler that he needed confirmation that David used the power. Nicole pushed back on it, but Cody said: "Everybody thought OJ murdered his wife, but got off, because he never said it. So if a murderer does something-" He got interrupted. Nicole replied, "This has nothing to do with this." Tyler said, "He didn't murder anyone." Then, another accusation was made later in the night.
The other BB22 accusation that the fans watched in the live feeds took place a bit later in the night. Twitter user @DuckTheBBDuck shared a video (seen below) of this interaction. Here, Enzo and Cody were in the HOH room reenacting how Memphis physically intimidated David earlier that night. Enzo played David and Cody played Memphis. Their reenactment of the scene implies that Memphis aggressively slammed his hand on David's shoulder and told him something akin to, "Congratulations on popping your cherry." Daniele pushed back saying that Memphis told her a different version of the story. However, Cody and Enzo were there, and they thought it was rough. They repeated several times that Memphis was indeed aggressive in his attempt to intimidate David. Moreover, Enzo declared that all the fans hate Memphis in the outside world.
The fans are getting tired of watching the very few people of color in the house experiencing so many different forms of microaggressions. Hopefully, the houseguests will realize that these situations aren't respectful to the people of color who are competing on the show and have absolutely nothing to do with the game of Big Brother.
Big Brother 22: All-Stars airs Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays at 8pm EST on CBS.
