My 600-Lb Life: What Happened To Renee Biran & Weight Loss
Renee Biran (Carlock) joined My 600-lb Life for Season 6 in 2018. My 600-lb Life is a docu-series on TLC that follows morbidly obese people as they struggle with their day-to-day lives and work with a doctor to lose weight. Renee specifically traveled to Houston, TX to consult with Dr. Nowzaradan. During her visit, she had breathing problems and visited the hospital. Renee weighed 631 pounds when she arrived for her appointment with the TLC doctor. Her goal was to lose enough weight to qualify for gastric bypass surgery.
Right up until January, Biran did a good job staying in touch with her family and fan base, sharing inspirational quotes and a family photo here and there on Facebook. But on January 15th of this year, a shocking new update was revealed. There are rumors that Renee is in a nursing home and is gravely ill due to battling Guillain-Barre Syndrome in which she was diagnosed with in early 2019. Guillain-Barre Syndrome is a rare autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system attacks its own nerves causing weakness and tingling in the extremities, and in rare cases paralysis.
According to The Cinemaholic, Renee lost 250 pounds, weighing in at 381 pounds. With her new weight level, she qualified for the gastric bypass surgery she had been wanting. Unfortunately, Renee was then diagnosed with Guillain-Barre diagnosis, which put her goal to have another surgery to remove excess skin from her weight loss journey indefinitely on hold. In a public Facebook post on February 25, 2019, Renee shared how she "dreaded going to a nursing home," but then said, "had I known I would get such good care, I would have come...sooner." Her diagnosis of Guillain-Barre Syndrome seems to have got the better of her and requires constant medical care.
What's going on with Renee Biran now? Back on May 13, 2019, Biran shared a picture of herself and a man, identified as Ronnie Earl Roden, with a picture of Vegas in the background and a post in which she hints at being married. Also, for the year of 2019, she supposedly still needed the surgery to remove her excess skin. She still posts inspirational quotes and an occasional picture of herself with a family member like her grandson or son.
Given her last Facebook update was in January of 2020, we can only assume her health has declined significantly, due to her ongoing battle with her weight and Guillain-Barre Syndrome. We can only hope that she continues to fight her battle every day with hopes she'll soon be in recovery. In the meantime, she has the support of her fans and her family, which supposedly now includes a husband.
