Selling Sunset, Netflix's reality show about L.A. real estate, certainly has some interesting personalities. Here are the ones we tune in for.
It may not be at the top of everyone's watchlist but there's no denying the impact that Selling Sunset has had on the Netflix brand in recent months. Lock down has been a pretty difficult time for millions of people around the world, and in times of trouble, many of us turn our attention towards something simple and fun: binging cheesy reality TV shows.
Learning about the ins and outs of real estate in Los Angeles is enough to inspire anyone to take it up as a career path, but in reality, the characters make the show what it is. We all like to see what kind of commission they're going to get for a ridiculously priced house in the Hills, but we also want to know what kind of drama is going to be waiting around the next corner.
We know that this is a show that lives off of the confrontations between cast members, and as such, a lot of what we’ve seen has probably been pretty scripted.
Davina has received a lot of fan backlash since the show first aired, but she comes across as quite cunning throughout the course of her tenure on Selling Sunset. She appears to be one of the least effective agents at The Oppenheim Group, though that doesn't make her less compelling as a character.
Romain pops up with an entertaining line probably once or twice every season, but there’s a reason why he was seemingly downgraded to a recurring role in Season 3.
He’s clearly a very good looking man, but aside from that, we’re not all too sure what it is that Mary sees in him. They must have a pretty strong chemistry away from the show, because on-screen, we’re not entirely sure what it is they have in common.
While overstepping her bounds seems to be one of her favorite past times, Amanza is still a very useful personality to have on the show.
She needs to work on being a little bit more punctual, mainly because it’s incredibly frustrating to watch, but she’s only a beginner in comparison to the other girls. It’s understandable that she’s going to make mistakes from time to time and we’re eager to see how she’ll continue to grow and learn from those moments.
Heather going back and forth between which "faction" she wants to be a part of is annoying. But after making up with Amanza, it’s clear to see that she’s interested in personal growth, which is admirable.
She wants to be the best and she wants to push herself each and every single day, although sometimes she does seem like the sort of ultimate opportunist that’ll do whatever it takes to succeed. Then again, that’s probably a good trait in this line of work.
Out of the two brothers, it’s obvious that Brett takes a bit more of a back seat. Maybe that’s just done for the cameras, or maybe he’s just the clear number two within the company.
His brother makes better use of the time he has on camera and he also dictates the pace of the scenes that he’s in. Brett just kind of goes with the flow, and he only really comes out of his shell when he’s passionate about a certain project— or when he's spending time with Heather.
Mary saga aside, Jason is an integral piece of the puzzle in Selling Sunset. By all accounts he is the one who is steering the ship, although as we’ve already alluded to, there’s a decent chance some of that has been exaggerated for the sake of storytelling.
When you’re at the top of an operation like The Oppenheim Group you have to be ruthless, and you just know Jason has that side to him.
Look, she should probably end up with Jason, but we aren’t going to pretend like we understand the love between Mary and Romain. The best thing about this savvy real estate veteran is that she’s honest.
Mary wears her heart on her sleeve, and while she may be knocked down every so often, she isn’t afraid to get back up again and start fighting back. She’s a fighter, and everyone likes that in a reality TV star's persona.
Maya is Maya and she makes no apologies for that. She’s got the strength and determination to hold her own in just about any situation, and that includes when guys are trying to hit on her even though she’s happily married.
Going through pregnancy while trying to maintain a career in LA and Miami also deserves a whole lot of praise. It's a hard enough thing to do in one city, let alone two different ones on opposite sides of the country.
As controversial as she may be, Christine is the kind of character that people tune in to see. Her wedding was sensational, her personality is intoxicating, and she’s pretty good at her job.
She isn’t the kind of person that’s going to shy away from lighting a fire and some people don’t like that, but hey, that’s the gig. She knew that she needed to stand out from the rest of the crowd and that’s exactly what she did.
Say what you will about the divorce storyline, but it put Chrishell in the limelight in a big way— she was able to pour her heart out to the audience, making her the most relatable woman on the show.
Plus, she has never been one to back down. It doesn’t matter whether she’s being pushed into a high-pressure situation or confronted by one of the other girls, she always comes out looking like a million bucks both figuratively and literally.
