Princess Sofia of Sweden has opened up about if she had ever considered leaving the royal family like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did with the British Royal Family.
While being interviewed for a new documentary on Swedeish TV channel TV4, the Duchess of Värmland was asked if she’d ever thought about pulling a “Megxit”.
“No. Not really,” Sofia answered after thinking of it for a moment. “I think I have found such a fantastic balance, and I really see it as positive that I have made it through these stormy years.”
She added that her life as a royal is “such a huge advantage, in that we have the opportunity to stand a little in both worlds.”
However, she also spoke of the obstacles she’s faced since becoming a member of the royal family: “Since I became a princess, I have been through many identity crises. Here in South Africa, I have a type of identity and when I come home I have something else. Here I am allowed to be who I want to be.”
When Sofia married Prince Carl Philip in 2015, there were many naysayers of their relationship and she was criticized for participating in a reality program years before.
They now have two children, Prince Alexander and Prince Gabriel.
