Boy, 11, dies of ‘massive head trauma’ after golf cart fell on him
An 11 year-old boy died of ‘massive head trauma’ after a golf cart he was riding on crashed and landed on top of him. The unnamed youngster was flung from the vehicle before being crushed by it in Magnolia, Texas, on Sunday.
Paramedics rushed to the scene and performed CPR on the boy. He was rushed to a hospital in nearby Tomball, but doctors were unable to save the child, and he died shortly afterwards. A photo taken afterwards showed the very large black cart laying on its side on a main road.
Police said a group of youngsters were riding on the cart side-by-side at the time of the accident. It is unclear how old the driver of the cart was. One other teen was injured in the smash, and taken to hospital, where they are said to be in a stable condition, KTRK reported.
Investigators are continuing to examine the crash scene to try and establish what went wrong. In Texas, no-one under the age of 16 is allowed to drive a golf cart on a public road.
