ICE SPRITE can be a cool bet. Willie Haggas’ filly looks a rapid improver after winning her two starts in handicap company in style.
Her pedigree is all about soft ground, so she should relish conditions and there is no doubt she will be contesting Group class races sooner rather than later.
Urban Artist looks the main danger after winning a Windsor novice with a bit in hand. She looks like a real stayer and a slog around here this afternoon should be right up her street.
Alemagna won this with ease last year off a 4lb lower mark. So far that has been her only career win and there is no doubt she has the form to go close. However she might find conditions too testing.
Point In Time has been paying the price for a couple of good runs at the end of last season and looks in the grip of the handicapper. Her game win at Newmarket over this trip last term gives her a squeak.
Margaret Dumont has been mediocre since making all to win a novice event over this trip at Ascot.

ALAADEL has plenty in his favour. Stuart Williams’ mudlark was given a sighter when finishing well from a wide draw at Chester last week and that should have set him up perfectly for this. He has champion jockey Oisin Murphy on board and it’s very much the case the softer the ground the better for this speedy seven-year-old.
Chairmanoftheboard is in the form of his life and comes here after a cracking fifth in the Stewards’ Cup. That’s top class form and he should handle conditions.
Brian The Snail finished two places ahead of him in the Stewards’ Cup and he’s another who will go well with one of the best Goodwood jockeys Silvestre De Sousa taking over from a 3lb claimer.
One at a bigger price that could go well is Impressor. He has yet to show his true form this season, but was a classy juvenile.
Atalanta’s Boy lost all chance when rearing up as the gates opened in the Stewards’ Cup. Forget that blip and he would have a chance on his earlier form which include two impressive previous wins here on the Downs.

A TRAPPY handicap that can go AL MADHAR’s way. Things have not gone to plan for Richard Hannon’s lad since winning a novice at Newbury in June. He was outclassed in the Dante at York and may have found the ground too quick when only fifth on handicap debut at Ascot. He should be much happier on softer ground and has the ability to go close if settling early.
Native Tribe is quirky but talented. He ran well at Sandown, but his tendency to hang under pressure is a concern. That said, he is capable of improvement.
Fiji ran well enough on handicap debut at Newcastle and looks sure to be involved.
Of the others, It’s Good To Laugh went out like a light close home and is frustrating while Overwrite may improve now up in trip.

BE a Happy punter in the Supreme Stakes. HAPPY POWER has always been held in the highest regard. Andrew Balding’s ace loves soft ground and conditions are perfect for him. He enjoyed a confidence boost when winning at Salisbury earlier in the month and looks primed for this test.
D’bai looks the main danger having beat the tip at Haydock two starts ago. I am not sure how reliable that form is, but he has shown up well behind his classy stablemate Space Blues on multiple occasions.
Cloak Of Spirits has been disappointing since finishing runner-up to Love in the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket. She will handle the ground, but looks vulnerable at this level.
Snazzy Jazzy was poorly positioned when third to D’bai at Haydock and has every chance of reversing the form with the mud flying.
Escobar is interesting if bouncing back from a poor run at York last week. He produced a career best when third here in the Lennox Stakes and is proven on heavy ground. He could be overpriced.
Of the rest, Toro Strike is improving but must take another step forward.

LUCKY FLIGHT can fly home. He did well over timber last year, winning twice at Kelso before running with credit in a competitive handicap at Musselburgh in February. He jumped well when winning a point-to-point by a distance and is expected to relish chasing.
Return Ticket is more than useful at this level. His second at Kempton in March is top form, but he has a bit to prove after folding so quickly over hurdles at Uttoxeter last week.
Scardura is a worthy favourite after running well behind a subsequent winner at Stratford. He jumped like a natural on chasing debut and rates the main danger.
Of the rest, Global Tour won well at Bangor and Siannes Star brings useful hurdle form to the table.

BOY can be a man. NEWTOWN BOY is a speculative pick in a race full of unknowns. All the horses at the head of the betting look vulnerable and he might have more left in the tank after winning a good race at Haydock in December. He goes on any ground and is proven at this level.
Imperial Elysian will be a popular selection and it’s easy to see why. He landed a hat-trick of wins when bolting up at Southwell, but an 11lb rise might just anchor him.
Native Fighter was outstayed over further at Cartmel and can do better over this trip.
Dear Sire has very little in hand off this mark but usually runs his race.
Bootlegger is an absolute mountain of a horse and he is the value bet in the race.
Speredek comes all the way from deepest Devon but is unlikely to pay for the petrol to go home.

THERE is a lot to Like in the Perth Gold Cup. AS YOU LIKE looked like a stayer to follow at Southwell. He found further improvement when he stepped up to three miles and impressed with the way he travelled. A 4lb rise is lenient and he’s sure to be primed for this valuable pot.
Imada was another who relished the step up to three miles when hacking up at Bangor last month. He’s now a stone higher mark, but is very lightly raced for a ten-year-old.
Fortunes Hiding is a stout stayer and did well to win over shorter here last month. There should be more to come.
The Young Master has his first run since a wind op. He is a dour stayer and rarely runs a bad race but he will do well to defy top weight.
Amalfi Doug saves his very best for this track and could run into a place while Boy’s On Tour is stepped up in class.
