TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan: The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Cagayan Valley has entrapped six suspects involved in an infrastructure scam in the province of Nueva Vizcaya. Regional Director Gelacio Bongngat bared that they had received complaints from different contractors in the region. “According to our investigation, they have allegedly pinpointing a mayor in Nueva Vizcaya as part of their group,” he said in Filipino. He added that during the entrapment operations, the suspects asked for a partial amount worth P4 million. The NBI is set to investigate the alleged town mayor linked to the said extortion. He noted that the suspects came Manila and could be doing a bigger operations there. The suspects were able to get through the checkpoints from Manila to Isabela. Meanwhile, the suspects are under the custody of the NBI Region 2, where one of them tested positive in a rapid test in Santiago City. The NBI will file a case of extortion, robbery and estafa.
