Mother was hit so hard by speeding driver her corpse flew through the air and into family’s living room
A young mother was struck so hard by a car her dead body flew through the air and landed in a family’s living room. Nicole Fundenberg, 30, died instantly after being struck while walking home with takeout food in Philadelphia on Wednesday evening.
Police say Nicole was struck with such force the impact sent her remains crashing through a front door, finally coming to rest inside a family’s home. A 57 year-old woman was also found mortally wounded on the street, and was rushed to hospital, where she later died. Her name has not yet been released.
Nicole, who had two young children, and the other woman were killed close to where they live with Nicole’s father Derrick Fundenberg outraged at losing his daughter to a speeding driver.
Derrick said: ‘She was the sweetest child. Everybody knows and loves her around here. I don’t understand why you gotta speed, you gotta stop speeding.’
A 14 year-old girl suffered an injured leg in the smash, but is expected to recover. Police arrested the 19 year-old driver of the car that crashed afterwards, and have run tests to establish whether she was drunk or high at the time.
She stopped at the scene after her silver Chevy sedan was left embedded in the same house Nicole’s body flew into. The property has since been declared structurally unsound.
Nicole and the other woman mown down lived close to where they were killed.
Neighbor Mark Brown told ABC6: ‘You could never get nothing bad from them. Everything was always great from them. That’s why this was really hard to hear it and hear about it.’
Other loved ones also flocked to pay tribute to Nicole, who was described as a ‘wonderful mother’, ‘smart, ambitious’ and ‘full of humor.’
