Former Spurs defender claims he is a boyhood Arsenal fan
Jonathan Dinzeyi, who made headlines last week for joining Arsenal after being released by Tottenham Hotspur has admitted to growing up as a Gunners fan.
The former Spurs academy defender was released by the Lilywhites last month without making a single first-team appearance for the club.
In fact, the 20-year-old struggled for game time at the club, making just six appearances across all competitions for the Tottenham’s Under-23s last season (Football.London).
After his trail with Queens Park Rangers in February failed to materialise into a permanent deal (West London Sport), Arsenal confirmed last week that Dinzeyi had signed a professional contract with the club and will be joining up with their Under-23s next season.
After making the move across the North London divide to the Gunners, the young defender took to social media to admit his delight at getting another opportunity to prove himself.
Dinzeyi has now claimed in an interview with Arsenal’s official website that he supported the Woolwich while growing up.
The young defender is quoted as saying: “It’s a great feeling [to join].
“Arsenal are a massive club and they were actually the first club I supported as a child.”

Based on how rarely he featured for the youth sides over the last couple of years, it is clear that Dinzeyi was not rated particularly highly by the youth coaches at Spurs. Given that fact that we were the ones who released him, we cannot really be critical of the young defender for crossing the North London divide and signing for the Gooners.
