90 Day Fiance: Elizabeth's Family Talk About "Peasant Food" In Moldova
90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? fans are irritated with Elizabeth Potthast Castravet's family, who called Moldovan cuisine "disgusting" and "peasant food."
In the last few episodes of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?, Elizabeth's father, Chuck, and her brother, Charlie, have disrespected Moldova and its culture quite a few times. Now, Libby's mother, Pamela Putnam, stepfather, and sister, Jess, have also arrived in Moldova. As soon as Jess landed in the new country, she threw shade and said, "wished she was in France." She took another jab at her brother-in-law Andrei Castravet, asking him if he gets "depressed" living in Moldova because she finds the place "gloomy." Later on, the American family got together at their Airbnb and took every opportunity to whine about the country's food. Jess thinks she's gonna lose weight because she can't eat Moldovan "sh*t" food. Then, she wonders if Moldovan families eat pork fat because it's "cheap." Right off the bat, Charlie is describing the food as "disgusting"; then, the 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? father joins him and says that "It's peasant food."
They disrespected the meal that was cooked especially for them by Andrei Castravet's parents with so much love. If they didn't like it, they could've easily skipped it instead of criticizing it. However, they decided to belittle their in-laws (and the food they served) by making such rude, ignorant, and cutting remarks. Many 90 Day Fiance fans noticed this uncultured behavior and called out the family. One angry Reddit user said, "This entire family's pretentiousness is absolutely disgusting and deplorable." Well, a closer look at the table reveals that there were croissants, fresh fruit including grapes, and possibly some delicious jellies. How's that stuff "peasant food?" It seems like a very healthy option to many 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? viewers. A fan dropped a fitting comment, "They do know that it's Eleanor's culture also, right?"
The food items offered are typical foods for many Moldova natives. Moldovans have been eating this sort of food for years. Imagine how Andrei's father and mother would have felt after watching the episode! They put time and effort into preparing a lavish meal for these foreigners, who are not open-minded about branching out beyond burgers and fries. One fan said, "Those pastries look delicious. I'd eat those all day long! Also, 'Mother Andrrrrei' set up that whole feast at the Airbnb; she had to pack and transport all that food. Too bad it wasn't appreciated!
