According to a report in the Mirror, Manchester United are set to pull the plug on the attempt to sign Jadon Sancho this summer. The winger has been on the club’s radar for a while now – and even if they want to bring him in – it is just not looking feasible from the club’s point of view to making it happen this summer.
Dortmund want £108 million for the player and are not accepting United’s bid of payment in instalments. That combined with the coronavirus pandemic and the financial difficulties it has brought – makes it too much to be able to pull off – given the massive wages and intermediary fees involved.
Sancho has a contract at the German club till 2023 and is happy there – given his current growth trajectory. United still want Sancho, but they will not be getting him anytime soon. The club will instead look at alternatives this summer or go after the main target again, albeit next summer.
