Love After Lock Up: Where Are They Now - Marcelino & Brittany Santiago
Although Love After Lockup couple Brittany Dodd and Marcelino Santiago had several challenges to fight, they showcased a strong connection with each other on the show. Lately, a lot of positive changes are taking place in their lives. So let's have a look and find out what they are up to now.
Many fans would be aware that Brittany had a troubled childhood. She had to leave her abusive home at age 12. She got pregnant at the young age of 15, but her two kids were placed in adoption by CPS since she wasn't sober at the time. Then at the age of 18, she got arrested for the first time and consequently had to spend 5 years behind bars. She got out in 2013 but again got arrested in 2017 on the charge of conspiracy to commit robbery. But since she appeared on the show, her life seems to be on the right path.
She and her husband Marcelino are in a happy place and recently welcomed their second child. They are not planning to grow their family further and are thinking of ways to help other ex-cons. Marcelino revealed that they are doing "good" since they filmed the last season of Love After Lockup. After their second baby's arrival, the couple has decided to do some renovation and "minor construction" in their house. Soapdirt reports that Brittany has also published her memoir, "One Woman's Journey: Surviving the Streets," which is now available as a paperback and a kindle version on Amazon. While talking about the writing process, the ex-con said that she wanted to be "deep, honest, and transparent as possible" while sharing her struggles. And for that, she had to "re-live those moments." But she did it to "help other people" through her experiences. Marcelino and Brittany also teamed up with We TV and filmed a quarantine series where viewers will see them at home this time doing their usual stuff. It might also cover Brittany's weight loss journey as she has lost a considerable amount of weight during the lockdown period.
The duo is also motivated to establish an inpatient/outpatient facility in collaboration with a few business partners. While Brittany was doing her jail time, she used to help organize support groups for her fellow inmates. During that time, she took an interest in meditation and exercising, which eventually enabled her to look "inward." With their inpatient/outpatient facility initiative, they won't only focus on ex-cons who are fresh out of prison. But also concentrate on areas like re-entry into society, job training, education, homelessness, and mental health.
