Khabib Nurmagomedov backs ‘brother’ Daniel Cormier to beat Stipe Miocic in ‘one of the best’ UFC fights ever
KHABIB NURMAGOMEDOV backed his “brother” Daniel Cormier to beat Stipe Miocic in what he calls “one of the best” UFC fights ever.
Cormier, a training partner and close friend of lightweight champion Khabib, faces Miocic in a trilogy fight in the UFC 252 headliner.
Promoter Dana White is adamant the winner not only walks away with the title, but also the crown as the heavyweight division’s greatest fighter.
And 31-year-old Nurmagomedov hailed the trilogy decider, with the fighters one apiece with it all to play for.
He wrote: “This is one of the best confrontations in the history of MMA, they met 2 times and the score is 1: 1, the third fight promises to be very interesting.”
Cormier, 41, added the heavyweight title to his light-heavyweight belt in 2018 beating Miocic, 37, by first round knockout.
But Miocic patiently waited for his rematch a year later, which he won in the fourth after a slow start.
Cormier has warned he will be fighting for the final time.
And Nurmagomedov has tipped the legend to cement his “legacy” with a fairytale finish in front of an empty crowd at the UFC Apex Center in Las Vegas.
Khabib added: “I really look forward to this fight and expect the victory of my Brother @dc_mma the path that DC has done in martial arts cannot be described in words, you just look at the list of fighters whom he beat, look how many titles he won in different weights.
