Boy, 9, who’s lived in care home for 6 years says he’s desperate for a family to call his own

A nine year-old boy who has spent the last six years living in a care home says his greatest wish is to be adopted by a loving family. Jordan, from Oklahoma City in Oklahoma says he’s desperate for the company and comfort having a family would bring.

Asked what he’d do with three wishes, Joran answered: ‘To have a family, and family, family. Those are the only wishes I have.

‘I would just like to have a family to call mom and dad or just mom or just dad. I don’t really care.’ Explaining his desire for a family to call his own, Jordan said: ‘The reason it’s important is because so I could have some people to talk to anytime I need to. I hope one of y’all pick me.’

Jordan and his brother Braisen were taken away from their biological family six years ago, and put into separate group homes. The siblings were close, and social workers used to arrange meet-ups so they could bake and do karate together.

But Braisen has since been adopted, and Jordan says he doesn’t get to see his biological sibling much anymore, according to KFOR.

He is one of almost 7,800 children in care in his home state of Oklahoma, and one of around 100,000 youngsters in need of an adoptive home in the United States.

Jordan made a televised appeal for a family earlier this week, with social workers and KFOR staff arranging for the aspiring young cop to meet some police as a treat.

Explaining his ambition to work in law enforcement, Jordan said: ‘Because they’re fun and they protect people.’
