Fall Guys Reveals Freebies For Fans Following Server Issues
Two free gifts are being given to players of Fall Guys as developer Mediatonic attempts to apologize for the server issues that prevented many users from experiencing the game during its first week after launch. The colorful battle royale game takes inspiration from gameshows to create a unique experience that involves a variety of different mini-games.
Fall Guys is a unique take on the genre that was made popular by games such as Fortnite. Players compete against each other in a series of mini-games that are reminiscent of the modes in titles like Mario Party. The huge popularity and success of Fall Guys has already seen big brands such as KFC sign up to provide crossover costumes while players on other platforms have been vocal about the game being ported to Nintendo Switch and Xbox One.
Mediatonic has revealed on Twitter that players will get a free gift, however, there is currently no date for when the content will be available. Users will get a Legendary prickles costume, based on a variant that won an earlier competition to be included in the title, along with 5,000 kudos to spend. According to the developer, every player who has booted up the game before midnight tonight will automatically have the gifts available to them. The move is an attempt to compensate players for the server problems that have plagued Fall Guys since its launch earlier last week.
"Any player that has ever opened the game before midnight tonight, will be gifted this compensation automatically!"
The server issues that have affected Fall Guys are not too surprising. The new game had a staggering launch and quickly rose to the number one spot on both PC and PlayStation 4. The game also made a big impact on social media and on streaming sites such as Twitch, showing the reach of the game. More than a million players tried out the game on August 4, the day that Fall Guys first became available. Developer Mediatonic was simply unprepared for that level of success and had to shut servers and limit the number of players until extra capacity could be added.
