Campbell: Man dead, woman hospitalized after apparent domestic-violence incident

CAMPBELL — Police said a man shot a woman multiple times, then killed himself Saturday evening in a domestic-violence incident.

The woman was hospitalized, but her condition was not available Sunday morning.

At about 7:26 p.m. Saturday, a person called 9-1-1 twice and hung up from the Timber Cove Mobile Home Community on Timber Cove Drive. Dispatchers called back, hearing a female voice and a disturbance before being disconnected again, police said.

When officers arrived on scene, they found two children who were fleeing the home; the officers helped them get to safety. Their condition was also not available Sunday morning.

Moments later, officers heard multiple gunshots being fired from inside the mobile home. An armed man exited the residence, police said, retreating back toward the mobile home when he saw police. Officers then heard one gunshot.

Police called the woman inside the home on the phone; she told them she had been shot and needed help. The officers came in to evacuate the woman; while inside, they saw a man with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot in the carport.

The man was pronounced dead on the scene. The man’s identity was not immediately released.
