Supreme Court rules Trump admin. cannot end DACA

The Supreme Court has ruled the Trump administration cannot legally end the Obama era DACA program. Justices ruled 5-4 on the decision, which was made Thursday.
In the opinion, Chief Justice John Roberts said the administration failed to offer a good explanation for ending the program.
The ruling means DACA recipients will be able to renew their membership to the program, which shields illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. as children from deportation.
President Trump has suggested he may rehash the DACA case in light of the Supreme Court’s ruling. In a series of tweets, the president said he’s “asking for a legal solution on DACA, not a political one.”
He went on to say “the Supreme Court is not willing to give us one, so now we have to start this process all over again.”

The president also stated the recent decision calls for the appointment of new justices, which he said he would recommend himself.

Lawmakers pointed out the high court did not rule on the legality of the platform, which leaves the door open for the president to file a new case to end the program in the future.
In a separate tweet, President Trump expressed that decision actually “gives the president of the United States far more power than ever anticipated.”
The DACA decision, while a highly political one, and seemingly not based on the law, gives the President of the United States far more power than EVER anticipated. Nevertheless, I will only act in the best interests of the United States of America!
