U.S. stocks closed mixed to mostly higher Thursday as investors struggled to digest concerns about job losses from coronavirus lockdowns and rising case counts. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost about 40 points, 0.2%, to close near 26,080, while the S&P 500 rose about 2 points or 0.1%, closing near 3,115. The Nasdaq Composite Index closed near 9,943, up 33 points or 0.3%. A report on weekly jobless claims showed 1.5 million Americans filed for benefits for the first time, more than the 1.3 million forecast by economists. Francesca's Holdings Corp. shares fell 5.4% after the retailer said there are doubts about its ability to continue as a going concern.
