Royal Ascot racing tips: Sun Racing’s Tote Placepot selections for Friday at the Royal meeting

Race 1 – 1.15 Palace Of Holyroodhouse Handicap

It was impossible not to be impressed with ART POWER at Newcastle.

He had the opportunity to run in Friday’s Group 1 Commonwealth Cup but connections have chosen to exploit his handicap mark here.

Race 2 – 1.50 Albany Stakes (Group 3)

MOTHER EARTH caught the eye when second on debut at Navan.

This well-bred filly should relish the stiff 6f here and her powerful yard have been among the winners.

Race 3 – 2.25 Norfolk Stakes (Group 2)

All eyes will be on the exciting EYE OF HEAVEN.

He impressed when winning on debut at Newmarket and that form was given a big boost when the third won the Windsor Castle on Wednesday.

Race 4 – 3.00 Hardwicke Stakes (Group 2)

The high-class ELARQAM ran a solid race on his return and the winner Lord North won well here on Wednesday.

He should relish the step up to 1m4f and if there is a bit of rain he won’t mind one jot.

 

Race 5 – 3.35 Commonwealth Cup (Group 1)

Plenty in with chances in a cracking race. Stick two in your placepot, with Middle Park runner-up GOLDEN HORDE a must.

And don’t overlook LOPE Y FERNANDEZ, who looks like he will relish this drop in trip if his Irish Guineas run is anything to go by.

Race 6 – 4.10 Queen’s Vase (Group 2)

This probably wasn’t the plan over the winter for the lightly-raced BORN WITH PRIDE.

She disappointed on her return at Kempton but she is bred to relish this step up in trip and is worth another chance.
