HOLLY Willoughby struggled not to laugh as a guest who claimed she could communicate with mermaids taught her how to meditate on This Morning.
Karen Kay, from Cornwall, and her mermaid friend Moontail appeared on the show to tell viewers that mermaids are real and are loving life in lockdown.
She said: “They’re happy because there has been less activity on the oceans. There has been sea life coming back to life like sea horses, and coral reef.
“The mermaids are guardians of the oceans so they’re super happy about this.”
Karen asked Holly and co-host Phillip Schofield to close their eyes and think of the sea, but Holly was shaking with laughter, trying to disguise her face with her hair.
Karen told them: “This is mermaid meditation, imagine you are on the shore looking out at the ocean, and you spot a mermaid.”
Naughty Phil could hear Holly laughing and kept opening his eyes during Karen’s meditation lesson.
The pair asked Karen and professional mermaid Moontail about how they communicate with the mythical sea creatures in Cornwall.
Karen explained: “When I moved to Cornwall I was a party girl in London and when I came here I just knew that I was home, and the ocean just called me.”
Cheeky Holly then interrupted her and asked: “Can you speak to them now? How are they in lockdown is there anything they’d like to say?”
And Karen replied: “I’m trying to hear them but it’s not easy, I can’t speak to them right this minute because we’ve got the (noise of the) sea and the ocean in the background.
“They are definitely there, and they are aware of this happening.”
This Morning viewers were left amazed at the very strange chat.
One said: “What on earth am I watching? Has everyone gone stir crazy
“@hollywillsand @Schofe your faces say it all! #ThisMorning #mermaids”
Another tweeted: “So she can usually speak to Mermaids that are in the ocean, but today she can’t today because the sound of the ocean stops her hearing them? ”
And one more said: “You can now meet in groups of no more than 6 people, on a beach…. and talk to a mermaid or 2.”
And another cynic tweeted: “I’ve walked along that beach in Cornwall I’ve seen no mermaids funny that lol.”
