Another member of Khabib Nurmagomedov's camp has punched his ticket to the UFC.
Another member of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s team has been added to the UFC roster.
Russian flyweight Tagir Ulanbekov, a training partner of the UFC lightweight champion, has signed with the promotion. The UFC made the official announcement in a recent Instagram post. The news was first reported by Russian news agency TASS.
No timeline or opponent was given for Ulanbekov’s promotional debut.
Ulanbekov (11-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) was one of a handful of Russian fighters Nurmagomedov surrounded himself with for the duration of his isolated training camp for UFC 249.
A former Fight Nights Global title challenger, Ulanbekov has won three straight fights including back-to-back finishes. In 11 professional victories, Ulanbekov has accumulated six wins by submissions and one by knockout.
Ulanbekov, a Dagestan native, most recently competed in the Gorilla Fighting Championship in Krasnodar, Russia, successfully defending the promotion’s 125-pound title for the second time.
