History and description
Estadio Olimpico de la UCV got built in 1948 commissioned by the newly in power military government to serve as the flagship venue of the 1951 Bolivarian games.
The stadium could initially host about 30,000 spectators, but this got reduced to its current amount following a refurbishment for the 2007 Copa America, for which it was one of the playing venues.
Estadio Olimpico de la UCV is the principal football stadium of the city of Caracas and hosts most home matches of Caracas’ various football teams.
How to get to Estadio Olimpico de la UCV
Estadio Olimpico de la UCV is located centrally in Caracas, just south west of the Sabana Grande business district and a little more west from the well off El Rosal and Las Mercedes areas.
La Candelaria, the city’s historic centre, is located further west, about 4 kilometres from the stadium.
The stadium lies on the UCV University campus. It can be walked to from Sabana Grande, though is also easily reached by metro.
Metro stop Ciudad Universitario lies a short walk away from the stadium. It’s on line 3 that runs from Sabana Grande to the south-west of the city. From most parts of the city you need a change from line 1 at Plaza Venezuela station.
