Batman Did The Impossible By Hitting Superman's [SPOILER]

Batman and Superman are the best of friends, but rarely do Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent get the chance to have some fun doing normal things. However, when the two entered the batting cages things got extremely competitive, with Batman betting he could hit a pitch from the Kryptonian, and he did it.

In the 'Double Date' story from Batman #37 by Tom King, Clay Mann, Jordie Bellaire, and Clayton Cowles, the superheroes have a date night. Clark, Lois, Bruce, and Selina, arrive at Gotham County Fair not realizing it's Superhero Night, so they come up with the decision to wear each other's costumes. Bruce is Superman, Clark is Batman, Lois is Catwoman, and Selina is... well, she's wearing Lois' dress (schmoozing security to let her in). The couples have fun, drink, Bruce and Selina make out on a love boat, and the boys decide to whack some baseballs in batting cages.

There's some serious testosterone on display, as Bruce suggests the baseball pitching machine is too easy and wants to make some adjustments to it. Clark than suggests he see if Bruce can hit one of his pitches, "unless you're, y'know, scared." Bruce responds "Of embarrassing you?" Superman taunts Bruce by telling him "I'd throw it right past you. You wouldn't see a thing," to which Bruce gives the most Batman response ever, "you'd be surprised what I see." Even when they go on rides at the fair, the two can't stop thinking about facing one another.

After some ice cream, more fun, and reverting back to their original clothes, Batman and Superman agree to face one another on the baseball diamond. Superman calls Batman's attempt at hitting his fastball as "impossible," as he winds up and throws the pitch. Batman locks in and cracks the ball out of the park.

Batman really must have kept his eye on the ball, because who knows how fast Superman could throw. It's got to be well over 100 miles per hour. But, Batman has the time to think about how he was going to hit Superman's pitch and delivered at the plate. It's a great moment from an incredible single-issue comic.

'Double Date' is worth checking out not only for the competitive nature between Batman and Superman but how Lois and Selina bond and have fun as well. Batman #37 is one of the best issues from the Rebirth continuity, and if you haven't read it, you should - it's a real home run.
