TSG Hoffenheim will resume their campaign with a home game against Hertha BSC at 15:30 CET on (Saturday) 16 May. TSG managing director Dr. Peter Görlich welcomed the decision, saying: "We'd like to thank the prime ministers and the chancellor for the trust they have placed in professional football, which we naturally now see as an obligation for us too. We're now looking forward to implementing the details for a resumption of the league. This of course includes the diligent implementation of all the required hygiene measures – both in terms of organisation and sport – for the first home game. The team, which has coped with the difficult situation in an exemplary and highly responsible manner in recent weeks, has today resumed team training after a two-month absence. Despite the short timeframe, we shall now prepare for the restart in a very focused manner and, in addition, will move into our compulsory one-week quarantine quarters at a hotel starting this weekend.
The season in both leagues will resume with the 26th matchday, with the subsequent rounds to follow in the originally planned order. The plan is for the last matchday of the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 seasons to be played on 27 and 28 June respectively. Since the overall calendar has to be adjusted to allow for the fixtures to be scheduled by the end of the season, final coordination discussions are currently being held with the DFB.
Meanwhile, the second wave of corona tests scheduled to be carried out before the resumption of team training has been completed. It comprised 1,695 samples. Two positive cases were identified and immediately reported to the local health authorities, which will decide upon the measures to be taken.
