The agent of rumoured Spurs target, Michał Karbownik, has revealed that the media have been correct with some of their recent speculation.
Karbownik, who can operate as a left-back or right-back, has six assists in just 19 league appearances since breaking into Legia Warsaw’s team this season (transfermarkt).
The Mirror (26/04, p68) reported last month that the Polish U-19 international has been watched extensively by scouts from Tottenham for over a year and the North London club are said to have established a strong relationship with Legia during that time.
The report claimed that Spurs faced competition from Dinamo Moscow, AC Milan, and Real Betis for the teenager’s signature.
Estadio Deportivo reported earlier this week that Barcelona too held an interest in Karbownik and could be set to enter the race for him.
The 19-year-old’s agent Mariusz Piekarski has now admitted that the media has been accurate in naming some of the clubs who are interested in the young defender but ruled out a move to Celtic and also suggested that a move to Barca might not be on the cards.
Speaking to Meczyki, Piekarski said: “Most clubs whose names appeared in the media are right. But there is a long way from interest to finalisation.
“Coronavirus has certainly spoiled a lot of things. Many clubs have paused. We are waiting.
“I don’t want to talk about Barcelona because there are no facts. There are top teams who see Karbownik at home and do not want to loan him anywhere.
“According to them, there is a chance that, in the first season, Michał will play 60-70 per cent of matches in various times, and after a year he would be sure of playing.
“There is no east topic. This is not the case. We focus only on the west and south. Celtic? I think there is no topic either. There is interest, but we have other very interesting options to consider.
“Michał will probably go to one of the five best leagues in Europe.”

The fact that he seems to have said there is no concrete interest from Barca, and ruled out Celtic and Dinamo, leaves just ourselves, AC Milan and Real Betis. His versatility could certainly benefit as we would likely need cover at both right-back and left-back. However, it would also depend on whether Mourinho is planning to employ Tanganga as a full-back or as a centre-half.
