Microsoft has revealed during its Xbox Series X gameplay presentation today that Halo Infinite will have a reveal event in July. Many worried that the COVID-19 pandemic would delay the release of both the Xbox Series X and Halo Infinite, but the company is on track to release them during the 2020 holiday window as planned.
There have been rumors for several months about what Halo Infinite will be about and when it would release. During E3 2019, another trailer was shown off for Halo Infinite and it was given a release window of winter 2020. Over time though news that several developers abandoned Halo Infinite created the perception that there could be some development issues on the long-awaited project. It has been more than five years since Halo 5: Guardians released.
After a long wait though, Microsoft confirmed during today's Xbox Stream players would indeed be able to get their hands on the title later this year. There weren't any new details given about the mysterious Halo game during other than the fact that 343 Industries is hard at work to ensure it releases alongside the Xbox Series X as the killer app launch title. Another event in July will be held specifically for Halo Infinite to give fans more details about the highly anticipated game.
Microsoft and 343 Industries have remained extremely tight-lipped about details concerning Halo Infinite. There are a few things that have been gleaned about the title since it was announced though. 343 has stated that it created a brand new game engine called the SlipSpace Engine that it believes will be vitally important for the series going forward. The company has also stated that Halo Infinite will focus entirely on Master Chief and that it will be a "spiritual reboot" for the series.
Halo Infinite has been greatly anticipated for quite some time now, and many fans can't wait to get their hands on it. The update today helped reassure Halo fans that the game is still on track to release later this year. Halo Infinite is still shrouded in mystery, but hopefully the reveal event in July will give more information on what can be expected from the legendary series.
Halo Infinite will release during the Holidays of 2020 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
