Soccer player Hiannick Kamba is very much alive after being found years after a being presumed dead after a car crash.
People reports that the athlete was declared legally dead in 2016 after a car wreck, but was recently found alive and returned to Germany.
Anette Milk, a prosecutor, told the site that it’s assumed that Hiannick‘s wife staged the wreck to collect on insurance money.
“Mr. Kamba has recently returned to Germany,” she wrote in an email. “There are no reasonable doubts about his identity…an investigation into fraud is underway at the Essen public prosecutor’s office against his wife. She denies the charge.”
German paper Bild reported that the car crash was staged in Hiannick‘s home country of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Hiannick was a former player for the FC Schalke 04 in the German Bundesliga league, and also for the VfB Hüls.
