Pechanga Resort Casino near Temecula announced on Wednesday, May 6, that it had reopened its RV Resort the day before with a limited number of spaces and stringent regulations in place for both guests and team members.
Guests at the resort will be required to wear face coverings when outside their campers and will have to maintain a minimum six foot distance from others who are not in their immediate families, according to a news release.
The reopening of the RV resort comes after the April 26 reopening of Pechanga’s golf course.
“This was another important milestone as we move into the economic recovery phase of this pandemic,” said Jared Munoa, president of the Pechanga Development Corporation, said in a statement. “We remain vigilant in doing our part to protect public health and safety, which is why we are maintaining many of the same health precautions that are still in place at our RV Resort as are in place across California.”
Pechanga was one of many casinos to close its doors in mid-March out of concern over the novel coronavirus pandemic. It instituted a temporary layoff of its employees April 1 after determining it might stay closed longer than anticipated, but continued to pay for team member health insurance through the end of April.
On April 6 the RV resort was closed.
Though the golf course and RV resort are now back open, a date for the reopening of the casino resort itself has not yet been set, according to the release.
The release says the reopening will be incremental and that Pechanga continues to coordinate with federal, state and local governments to determine when it’s safe to reopen.
