Like Cloud, the weapons contain their own max level to reach. Once the weapon reaches its max level, the unique ability will appear in the character's ability menu, regardless of the weapon is equipped or not. It is recommended to constantly switch weapons around, even if the weapons stats are lower than the current weapon. Several abilities can be unlocked for each character through this method.
