New fan art shows the original 6 stars of The Avengers as aged versions of themselves. Fans first saw the team together in the 2012 movie that spawned three sequels. The last, Avengers: Endgame, came out in April 2019 and brought the deacade-long Infinity Saga to a satisfying conclusion. However, it marked the end of the line for half of the original Avengers. Both Iron Man and Black Widow sacrificed themselves to bring back those wiped from existence at the end of Avengers: Infinity War. Meanwhile, Captain America survived, but went back in time to live out his life with Peggy Carter, making him an old man in the present-day MCU.
Luckily, all three will live on in one way or another. Black Widow will return for her solo film this November, which is set in between the final two Avengers movies. Robert Downey Jr. is also rumored to appear as Iron Man in that film, though Marvel hasn't confirmed that. Additionally, though Steve Rogers' fighting days are behind him, Captain America soldiers on in his friend Sam Wilson. Steve passed the mantle onto Sam in the final moments of Avengers: Endgame. Fans will see Sam wrestle with that responsibility in the upcoming Disney+ show The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Though fans have already seen older Captain America, they can now imagine what the other Avengers would like with wrinkles and grey hair, thanks to new fan art. Posted by Reddit user ColdBudLight98, the portraits show Evans looking fairly similar to how he did in Avengers: Endgame. Of the other five, Black Widow looks the closest to how she does in the MCU, with her red hair still in tact. However, Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye has an impressive beard that even rivals Thor's. Check out the aged photos of the Avengers below:
Despite the end of the Avengers as fans know them, this is still an exciting time in the MCU. Marvel has many long awaited projects in the pipeline, including its other Disney+ shows. All told, the studio is gearing up for increased integration between movies and TV that will mean even more content for fans to enjoy. In addition to The Eternals and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, both of which will introduce audiences to characters never before seen in the MCU, they also have several exciting followup films on deck. Fans are especially looking forward to Spider-Man: Homecoming 3, as it features Tom Holland's triumphant return to the MCU.
The aged portraits of the six original Avengers are a little bittersweet, considering Black Widow and Iron Man won't ever actually reach old age. However, it's fun to compare this Captain America to the one fans saw in Avengers: Endgame. It seems unlikely the stars of the MCU will still be playing their characters in 40 or 50 years, but it's still interesting to imagine what the original Avengers would like if they did.
