Former Leeds United striker Noel Whelan has praised Daniel Levy for his business acumen and claimed that the rumoured naming rights deal with Amazon would be fantastic for the club.
The Daily Mail reported earlier this week that Amazon had expressed an interest in entering into a partnership with Spurs for the naming rights of their state-of-the-art 62,303-capacity venue.
The report suggested that Levy believes he can secure up to £25million a season over at least 10 years for the naming rights deal.
The Spurs chairman, who is quite a divisive figure among the Tottenham fan base, has been criticised in the past for backing the club when the needed to push on and go the extra step (Sky Sports).
However, Whelan believes Levy can hardly be faulted when it comes to the decisions he has made regarding the stadium and believes that a £250 million naming rights deal would be terrific for the club’s future.
Speaking to Football Insider, the former Leeds star said: “He’s (Levy) a very clever businessman, isn’t he? He’s got a lot going for him with the new stadium now, we’ve already seen the figures that have come out.
“He’s looked into the future and knew that it would generate more money and it would be paid off in a certain space of time.
“That sort of money would be absolutely fantastic. You’ve also got a prize asset in Harry Kane demanding £200 million. There’s a lot for Daniel Levy to be rubbing his hands over.”

A lot of Spurs fans often accuse Daniel Levy caring only about making the club more valuable and selling it on for a profit, as if that can be completely divorced from success on the pitch.
The reality is that Daniel Levy’s decisions have guaranteed the club’s financial security for the future and given us a platform to compete with the biggest clubs in Europe for a sustained period of time.
