Marvel director James Gunn, who will return for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, has revealed Raglin will play a larger role in the upcoming movie. Gunn first lent his talents to Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014, providing the MCU with a much needed jolt. In many ways, his work paved the way for films like Doctor Strange and Thor: Ragnarok, which explored the zanier parts of the Marvel canon. Gunn took a different approach with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, crafting a more emotional movie that explored Peter Quill's relationship with his father.
Though the third installment in the franchise doesn't have a release date, fans are already eagerly anticipating its debut. Gunn has already shared several tidbits about the film, such as that he's excited to finish the stories he began in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Gunn spoke to that recently, saying that the scars appearing on Rocket Raccoon's back, for example, have been there for a reason since the beginning. The director has also discussed the MCU timeline relating to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, explaining the upcoming movie takes place after Thor: Love and Thunder.
In an Instagram story, Gunn revealed another detail from the film, sharing that Kraglin will have "a bigger part." Kraglin has appeared in both Guardians of the Galaxy movies and is a Ravager. He was deeply affected by his friend Yondu's death in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which led him to side with the Guardians against Quill's father, Ego. Kraglin is portrayed by Gunn's brother, Sean, who also provides motion capture for Rocket. Check out Gunn's reveal about Kraglin below:
Before Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 begins filming, Gunn will finish work on the DC film The Suicide Squad. Originally, the upcoming Guardians movie was expected to release sooner. However, due to Marvel firing and then rehiring the director because of some offensive tweets, Gunn took the DCEU job. Luckily, he revealed the coronavirus pandemic won't affect either project, as he's editing The Suicide Squad at home. Meanwhile, since Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 doesn't even have a release date yet, it makes sense Gunn recently revealed the pandemic hasn't had an impact on anything related to the film yet.
Gunn's answer about Kraglin is interesting, considering the character has never been an official member of the Guardians. However, he is a fan favorite character, so more screen time for him in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 should satisfy MCU fans. Unfortunately, they'll have to wait awhile before finding out what Gunn means by "a bigger part." In the meantime, they can speculate about what Kraglin may be up to following Thanos' defeat.
