Too Hot to Handle is Netflix's latest reality TV offering. On the surface, it's very reminiscent of Love Island, Are You the One? and Bachelor in Paradise since it centers around beautiful people looking for love at a beachside resort. However, there's one rule that makes the Netflix show stand out. The contestants are not allowed to engage in kissing, heavy petting, or sex (with each other or by themselves). That sure sounds like a lame experience, but there's also some money on the line, $100K. Still, it's not guaranteed. Every time someone breaks a rule, money is removed from the prize. Again, that sounds pretty lame since a lot of people would hold out on kissing for paycheck. However, there are a lot of commitment-phobic Tinder-loving people in this cast, who all expected a sex-filled vacation.
The one exception was Haley Cureton. She did not have an interest in kissing anyone on the show. Well, except for Francesca Farago, but they only kissed to punish their co-stars. They attempted to pin the kiss on Sharron Townsend and Rhonda Paul. However, Lana, the electronic device hosting the show, didn't let the kiss remain a secret. Aside from the joy of bothering her co-stars with that $3,000 kiss deduction, Haley did not seem to enjoy any aspect of being on the show. Still, there's more to Haley than talking about her sorority and how much fun she isn't having.
Haley's Instagram bio says that she is a geography major who lives in Jacksonville, Florida. In 2018, COED reported that Haley attended the University of Northern Florida. As she said on the show, she was in the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.
Haley introduced herself to the Too Hot to Handle audience by recited a cheer about how Zeta is the best sorority. She also dished on the requirements for being in the sorority, stating, "you have to be fun, you have to be outgoing, you kind of need to have good grades too." Haley's time on Too Hot to Handle didn't indicate much about her grades, but she didn't seem to check off being "fun" or "outgoing."
She got kicked off the show for not "having a positive impact on the group as a whole," not "showing signs of personal growth" and just not obeying the "no kissing" rule when she made out with Francesca out of spite. None of that screams "fun" or "outgoing," but maybe that's why Haley isn't in her sorority anymore.
In an Instagram story that she shared on Saturday, Haley wrote, "I'm not even in a sorority anymore, I said so many thing in my intro and that's what they chose to show, I'm thankful for all my friends I made through my sorority but it is not my whole life and never was."
Haley concluded, "I'm not even associated with it anymore and I have so many greater accomplishments in life than being in a fkn sorority, and that's the TEA." Now, she can add getting kicked off a reality TV show to that list of accomplishments.
Right now, Haley only has 20 posts on her Instagram page. However, it's likely that she deleted or archived some old posts. After all, she did win COED's "Girl of the Week' designation back in 2018. That article stated that she had 28,300 followers at the time, so it's logical assume that she had a lot more content on her page back then. Interestingly enough, she has been promoting Too Hot to Handle on her Netflix page lately, even though she was admittedly miserable the whole season. So, at least she's not totally against the show, despite the emphasis on her sorority participation.
While Haley didn't enjoy her time on the Netflix series, at least she's getting some more Instagram followers thanks to the exposure from the show.
