After Khloé Kardashian's breakup with Tristan Thompson, the former couple had to conquer co-parenting for their daughter True. Khloé has repeatedly shared her difficulties with the sensitive matter on Keeping Up With the Kardashians and has shown she's mastering what she considers the hardest thing she has ever done.
The past year has been a trying time for Khloé and Tristan as they dealt with the drama of their break up and raising their daughter. When Tristan was found to have cheated on Khloé while she was pregnant, the couple separated, forcing them to work on co-parenting. Although the two had a messy breakup, they have made the mature and responsible decision to put their daughter True first.
Like any relationship, co-parenting takes a lot of work and requires both parents to contribute and communicate effectively. In healthy co-parenting relationships parents have to put their wants aside in order to provide their child(ren) the love and support they need. Khloé has been open about her experience with raising True with Tristan, sharing that they have reached a point where things are going well. By them putting their differences aside and assuring each other that their daughter comes first, they have accomplished one of the biggest steps in succeeding in this type of relationship.
Khloé continues to make strides in her co-parenting journey with Tristan. Recently, she has been shown acknowledging that boundaries need to be set between her and her ex. When the basketball player popped up for a 24-hour surprise visit to see True, Khloé held a conversation with him to let me know how that made her feel. The reality star recognized that it was a good gesture for True while also expressing that he needs to respect her time and let her know beforehand. This incident and Tristan's overwhelming work commitment brought up the need for a schedule to be created so that True could spend time with her dad. Because Tristan plays basketball in Ohio and Khloé lives in California, the new parents were faced with the added pressure of considering travel. Khloé had reservations about being away from True for a weekend but she placed her feelings aside and took a trip to Ohio to drop True off. Her ability to isolate her anxieties and acknowledge True needs to have time with her dad is a sure sign she's winning at co-parenting.
There is nothing easy about co-parenting, and with the additional strains of overcoming a public breakup as well as the parents living in different states it's imaginably more difficult. Khloé's openness about her journey on Keeping Up with the Kardashians is commendable and sets a positive example of a healthy, effective co-parenting relationship.
