I’m dating a woman old enough to be my mother and don’t care what other people think
DEAR DEIDRE: I’VE been dating a woman old enough to be my mother, but is it wrong?
I’m 22 while she is 49 and a divorcee.
We work together in a hairdressing salon.
She’s my manager and she invited me for a drink one night so that we could talk about my first few weeks at work, but we realised we had sexual chemistry.
We drank a lot and I kissed her. She didn’t seem to mind.
We have been out on a few more dates and we’ve got some strange looks from other people, but I don’t care.

DEIDRE SAYS: No, it isn’t wrong – but you are at very different life stages.
You are a young man with his life ahead of him and an older woman may restrict your future plans.
My e-leaflet Do Age-gaps Matter? explains. The pressures mean a relationship is unlikely to go the distance.
If you want to enjoy working together, best keep things professional.
