Schoolgirl, 15, dies six days after she was hit by a car outside Sainsbury’s in Sunderland
A SCHOOLGIRL has died in hospital six days after she was hit by a car outside Sainsbury’s.
Alisha Webster, 15, was left fighting for life after being knocked over by the vehicle in Sunderland on February 19.
She was rushed to hospital but tragically couldn’t be saved and passed away on Tuesday.
Police have launched an investigation and are now asking for anyone with information to come forward.
Sergeant Matt Sykes, of Northumbria Police’s motor patrols department, said: “This was a devastating incident which has sadly resulted in the death of a 15-year-old girl.
“Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this difficult time and I would ask that their privacy is respected as they come to terms with their loss.
“We are committed to finding out the circumstances surrounding the incident and an investigation is ongoing to determine events directly before the collision happened.”
