DISNEY+’s Lizzie McGuire reboot is in peril after its show boss was fired and filming ground to a halt.
The Hilary Duff-led show’s return was confirmed in August last year, with original series creator Terri Minsky back at the helm.
Hilary, 32, was pictured filming scenes for the reboot in New York in October but by January, production was halted after just two episodes were completed.
Terri was fired that same month, and this has led industry experts to speculate the reboot will not make it to our screens.
Hilary has remained tight-lipped about the status of the show, but has hinted at her feelings about the situation in a number cryptic posts on social media.
On Tuesday, the actress shared a post on her Instagram Stories about planned Disney+ show Love, Simon being moved to Hulu under a new name; Love, Victor.
Sharing a news article about the switch and how Love, Victor was deemed not “family-friendly” for the streaming service, Hilary circled the word ‘family-friendly’ and added: “Sounds familiar”.
Meanwhile Terri said of the troubled reboot in a chat with Variety: “I am so proud of the two episodes we did.
“Hilary has a grasp of Lizzie McGuire at 30 that needs to be seen. It’s a wonderful thing to watch.
“I would love the show to exist, but ideally I would love it if it could be given that treatment of going to Hulu and doing the show that we were doing.

“That’s the part where I am completely in the dark. It’s important to me that this show was important to people.
“I felt like I wanted to do a show that was worthy of that kind of devotion.”
Industry insiders claimed to the outlet that Terri and Hilary wanted a more adult version of Lizzie, while Disney still wanted the show to appeal to children and families, causing creative tensions.
Currently, no new show runner has been confirmed for the reboot, however Disney denied the show was being scrapped in a statement to Variety.
