After a tough 0-3 start, the USA U18 team notched their first win at the WBSC U-18 Men’s Softball World Cup 2020 at New Zealand, a 7-3 victory over Denmark. Both teams are in pool B, with the USA now 1-3, while Denmark fell to 0-4.
In earlier games, the USA fell 10-1 to Mexico, 11-1 to New Zealand and 10-3 to Guatemala. New Zealand is 3-1 through 4 games, while Mexico and Guatemala are both 2-2.

USA Softball U-18 Men’s National Team opened up scoring in the first inning. William Ponce drove in one when he singled. USA Softball U-18 Men’s National Team scored three runs in the second inning. The offensive onslaught by USA Softball U-18 Men’s National Team was led by Ponce and Chase Thomson, who each had RBIs in the inning. Josh Eurich took the win for USA Softball U-18 Men’s National Team. He surrendered three runs on seven hits over seven innings, striking out six. Victor Elsner took the loss for Denmark. He went six innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits and striking out eight. USA Softball U-18 Men’s National Team racked up eight hits on the day. Ponce, Eli Rivas, and Parker Hopkins all collected multiple hits for USA Softball U-18 Men’s National Team. Ponce went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead USA Softball U-18 Men’s National Team in hits. Denmark totaled seven hits. August Bordonaro, William Melin, and Magnus Kirstein each managed multiple hits for Denmark. Denmark didn’t commit a single error in the field.
