Continetti Hits Warren on Super PAC Flip-Flop: ‘She Never Sticks With One Position’
Sen. Elizabeth Warren's (D., Mass.) flip-flop on accepting support from super PACs was emblematic of her chief flaws as a presidential candidate, Washington Free Beacon founding editor Matthew Continetti said Friday.
"Warren's flaws as a candidate are amazing," Continetti said on Fox News. "Whether it's the question of her ancestry, whether it's her policy on Medicare for All, now it is her policy about super PACs. She never sticks with one position. It's only a matter of time before she changes her mind, or she'll give some rationalization for it."
Continetti added that Warren might be a weaker general-election candidate than Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.), Warren's left-wing rival and the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination.
Warren on Thursday refused to turn down support for her campaign from the newly formed Persist PAC, in spite of her explicit pledge to "disavow any super PAC formed to support her in the Democratic primary."
Warren heads into Saturday's Nevada caucuses following a fourth-place finish in the New Hampshire primary. She gave a well-received debate performance on Wednesday, thrashing former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg, but is in need of strong finishes in Nevada and South Carolina to give her campaign momentum.
