Tottenham Hotspur go into the break one down at Stamford Bridge this afternoon as they go head to head with bitter rivals Chelsea.
Spurs were guilty of starting the game slowly, perhaps feeling the Champions League match on Wednesday in their legs still.
Ex-Arsenal man Giroud put the Blues ahead within 15 minutes with a lovely left-footed finish, with Chelsea dominating the attacking play in the first half-hour.
Tottenham struggled to keep the ball or fashion much in the way of a real chance on goal. The best arguably fell to Lucas Moura after a nice lay off from Bergwijn, but the Brazilian failed to find the bottom corner.
Japhet Tanganga also had a good chance running in behind, but just overran after taking a heavy touch.
If Spurs can come back and win the match, they will go above Chelsea and into the top four for the first time under Mourinho.
Some Spurs fans reacted to the first half on Twitter:

Rather play 10 men than play Winks. If we pretend he’s not homegrown no one would rate his sideways passing

Two bang average teams with the only difference being that Chelsea have a striker. We deserve all we get.
