European boss distances himself from ever being in the running as Poch’s successor
Tottenham Hotspur decided to part company with Mauricio Pochettino at the end of November.
The Argentine saw Spurs drop to the unfamiliar position of fourteenth in the Premier League along with suffering humiliation in cup competitions at the hands of Colchester United and Bayern Munich.
Daniel Levy admitted that sacking Pochettino was the hardest managerial decision which he has had to make (Evening Standard).
Less than twelve hours after Pochettino had departed North London, former Chelsea and Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was confirmed as his successor.
Prior to Pochettino’s sacking, The Times claimed that RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann was being considered as a potential replacement.
Nagelsmann made the trip to N17 yesterday with the rest of his Leipzig squad ahead of the clash between both sides at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
At a press confererence he was asked about the Tottenham speculation and played down the rumours which had previously been circulating.
He told Football.London:”[Become Spurs boss?] Me? No.”
Nagelsmann only took over the managerial reigns at Leipzig at the start of the season after moving from fellow Bundesliga side Hoffenheim.
