Ben Affleck starred as Batman in a few movies in the DC Universe including 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and 2017′s Justice League.
If you missed the news, just over a year ago, we found out that Ben had dropped out of the planned Batman solo film, The Batman.
Now, he seems to be explaining the reason why he backed away.
“I showed somebody the ‘Batman’ script,” Ben told the New York Times. “They said, ‘I think the script is good. I also think you’ll drink yourself to death if you go through what you just went through again.’”
“You’re trying to make yourself feel better with eating or drinking or sex or gambling or shopping or whatever,” Ben added. “But that ends up making your life worse. Then you do more of it to make that discomfort go away. Then the real pain starts. It becomes a vicious cycle you can’t break. That’s at least what happened to me.”
Ben Affleck has been to rehab a few times and broke his silence on a sobriety misstep back in October of 2019.
Ben previously spoke about why he dropped out of the movie, but gave a different reason at the time. Robert Pattinson is now starring in the film.
