A TEENAGER played dead to get away from a man who reportedly slashed her neck in an East London park toilets.
The 18-year-old ran to a nearby house to get help after the alleged attack on Monday near a Newham children’s playground.
She told the family who opened the door “help me, I’ve been stabbed”, before a first-aid trained woman used tea towels to stem the bleeding.
Cops have now charged a 21-year-old man after racing to the home and finding the victim with “stab injuries”.
She is still in hospital in a serious but stable condition, police have said.
One of the family members told the Standard: “The paramedics said if it wasn’t for us, she would be dead.”
The dad added: “She told us she lay down on the floor and played dead until he left.
“The knife wound was centimetres from her main artery in her neck.”
Connor Deegan, 21, of no fixed abode, will appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court today.
A Metropolitan Police statement said: “He has been charged with attempted murder, possession of an offensive weapon and theft after police were called to Little Ilford Park, Dore Avenue E12, on Monday, 17 February.”
It comes days after three knife attack victims were fighting for their lives after four stabbings in just one hour across London.
The bloodbath began in Barking, East London, with attacks taking place in nearby Dagenham, Ilford and Hackney just minutes later.
Stop and search powers were introduced for 24 hours in the Barking and Dagenham area following the attacks.
