After suffering an early-season loss to Mesa College, Cochise women’s basketball bounced back with a 68-60 victory. The game matched up two of the top defensive teams in the conference and was a back and forth battle all night. The Apaches dominated the fourth quarter outscoring the T-birds 21-14 to secure the victory. The Apaches shot 48% from the floor against a stingy Mesa defense. Raena Suggs led all scorers with a game-high 29 points. Cochise moves to 21-4 overall and 13-4 in conference play.
Coach Hughes said, “I am proud of how this team continues to stay with things and be mentally tough, especially at the end of games. Mesa is a very well-coached team, so it’s always great to get a tough fought victory over them.”
Next up: The Apaches host Tohono College Wednesday, February 12, in Douglas, AZ. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
