Mount Marty competed in their first-ever GPAC Championships in Competitive Dance and Cheer on Saturday afternoon. The Midland Cheer Team scored 80.87 points to win the league championship, while the Morningside Dance Team scored 88.07 points and won the league title. All-Conference Honors and the Coach of the Year Honors will be announced next week by the league office. In the Cheer competition side of things, Mount Marty posted a score of 32.40 which placed them 7th in the conference. In Competitive Dance, the Lancers were able to post a score of 28.63 giving them a 10th place finish.
Morningside will host the 2020 NAIA Competitive Cheer & Dance Northwest Group Qualifier on Friday, February 28 and Saturday, February 29, in Sioux City, Iowa, The Dance competition will be on the Morningside campus and the Cheer competition will take place at The Arena Sports Academy.
The NAIA National Championship(s) will be in Davenport, Iowa, at St. Ambrose University on March 13-14, 2020.
