Four family members face execution for ‘torturing’ and ‘killing’ teen siblings

Four family members are facing the death penalty for torturing and murdering two teen siblings, prosecutors said.

The teens, Mary Frances Crocker and Elwyn John Crocker Jr, were found buried in shallow graves behind their house in Guyton, Georgia in December 2018. Both siblings were 14 when they died, authorities said.

Their father, Elwyn Crocker, and their stepmother Candice Crocker have been charged in connection with their deaths. Also charged were the teens’ step grandmother, Kimberly Wright, Candice Crocker’s brother Mark Wright, and Roy Prater, who was Kimberly Wright’s boyfriend.

Prosecutors recently announced they would be seeking the death penalty for all the suspects, except for Prater, on charges including malice murder, felony murder, aggravated sexual battery, cruelty to children and false imprisonment.

Upon announcing the death penalty notices, prosecutors called the murders ‘outrageously or wantonly vile, horrible, or inhuman in that it involved torture or depravity of the mind.’

All five defendants are accused of beating Mary, withholding food from her, burning her with hot water, shocking her with a taser and imprisoning her naked in a dog crate. She was last seen in October 2018.

Prosecutors said that the four defendants facing the death penalty also sodomized Mary with a foreign object, according to The Augusta Chronicle.

Elwyn Crocker, Candace Crocker and Kim Wright are also accused of beating Elwyn Jr, starving him and confining him a dog crate. He was last seen on November 2016, more than two years after his body was found.

All five defendants pleaded not guilty in April 2019. The four facing execution will be arraigned on February 19.
