DEAR DEIDRE: WHAT I would really like is to give my girlfriend the best ­Valentine’s Day ever and to see her cry with joy.

I hope my mum is right that the best things in life are free because I don’t have much money to spare.

I am 27 and my girlfriend is 25.

She is very special to me and a major part of my world.

We have been together for almost ten months so this will be our first Valentine’s.

I am trying to think of something I can do that will not cost loads of money but will have the maximum impact.

DEIDRE SAYS: It need not cost a fortune to make your girlfriend feel loved.

Maybe turn your kitchen or hers into a restaurant with candlelight and flowers on the table.

Cook her favourite food.

Get tips from a cooking friend if you are no chef.

She will so appreciate the trouble you have taken.
