White van drivers’ favourite way to unwind is with a pampering sesh – and The Sun is still their fav paper
WHITE van men have revealed they like to unwind after a hard day’s work – with a pampering session.
Back massages, manicures and facials were popular luxuries for the burly blokes, with a third of painters and decorators naming them as the best way to relax if money were no object.
And two in five of them said they’d most like to be able to afford the time and money for a weekend away or a spa break.
While a surprising one in ten said they enjoy their craft so much they would like to spend a day off decorating their own home.
The survey commissioned by Dulux Decorator Centre found expert decorators value life’s little luxuries too, with almost half claiming finding the time in their busy day for a break and a simple cup of tea would make their work day better.
And it emerged The Sun is still the go-to newspaper for tradies with one in four choosing the tabloid for their daily news fix.
It was most popular among 35 – 44 years olds, with a third choosing to read the red top – and the West Midlands and Scotland came out as the most popular area to buy the newspaper.
The research further revealed one in five tradespeople are most likely to relax having dinner in front of the TV after a long day at work – and one in ten relax having a long bath.
One in five said a bacon sandwich would make their day.
Meanwhile, 23 per cent of professionals in the North West said a chippy lunch would play a big role in their dream work day.
The research, carried out by Dulux Decorator Centre to support its Centred On You campaign, polled decorating professionals across the UK to find out what factors would make their ideal working day.
