Dele Alli could face ban for coronavirus video as FA opens investigation – reports
The FA has written to Dele Alli to ask for his observations before deciding whether the Tottenham star will face a ban for his controversial coronavirus video, according to reports.
Alli posted a video on snapchat in which he appeared to mock an Asian man and the coronavirus outbreak currently affecting China and other countries. He deleted the video not long after it was uploaded and used the Chinese social network Weibo to apologise the follow day.
But despite his apology, the London Evening Standard claims Alli could face a ban and a fine for his actions. The report mentions the one-game ban and £50,000 fine handed to Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva last year after the Portuguese posted an offensive tweet about City defender Benjamin Mendy.
With that logic in mind, Alli could face a similar ban if found guilty. That means he might miss Sunday’s Premier League clash with Aston Villa. If the punishment is not decided on by the weekend, Alli could be banned for the following weekend’s trip to Chelsea.
